EXCITING NEWS, Augusta parents!!  Big things are happening in the next week.  As some of you who have followed this blog for awhile already know, I am part of a steering committee that is working to bring a small neighborhood children’s museum to Augusta.  The name of our museum concept is Imagination Station, and it will be housed in the community building at Hickman Park (on Hickman Road off of Walton Way, behind the Partridge Inn).  Our goal is a mid-July opening date.  The museum will be geared toward children from infancy to age 6, and will be parent-run, meaning the members will contribute in some capacity to the staffing and programming of the museum.  Much more information– including the specific exhibits to be set up– can be found on our website: www.imagineaugusta.org.  Our big fundraising campaign and membership drive is going live on www.communityfunded.com on WEDNESDAY, April 23rd, so please stay tuned!  We are looking to raise the $10,000 needed for set-up and start-up costs.  Since we are using a crowd funding website, every $10 counts!  Annual family membership purchases will also count towards our goal, and there will be other rewards and prizes for donating, so please check it out!  I will post a direct link to our fundraising page as soon as it goes live.
In the meantime, you can stay in touch with the project and help spread the word by “Liking” our Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/ImagineAugusta) … and if you use Twitter, by following us: @ImagineAugusta.  Please pass this information on to anyone you think would be interested in helping us make this museum happen and/or becoming a member!  Thanks so much, everyone!
